SHORTLIST COFFEEThe home coffee equipment guide

About Shortlist Coffee

Better coffee starts with the right equipment.

Shortlist Coffee helps home coffee drinkers make more informed decisions about the equipment they bring into their kitchens.

Our editor

Our editor, Blake, is a lifelong coffee drinker. Over the years he has owned a range of coffee machines, from an early Saeco bean-to-cup machine to the De'Longhi Magnifica Evo and a Keurig K2500 pod brewer. Each showed him something different about what matters in a home coffee setup: convenience, consistency, maintenance, and the everyday experience of making a good cup of coffee.

That ownership experience shapes how we approach coffee equipment. We look beyond feature lists and marketing claims to what makes a machine worth buying. Our guides cover the details that matter to everyday owners: performance, ease of use, reliability, maintenance, warranties, and how machines and grinders fit together.

Blake also pays attention to the machines that restaurants, hotels and offices rely on every day, and tries a machine himself before buying when he can.

How we work

We don't test the current machines we cover. Specs come from each maker's own product pages and manuals. The strengths and drawbacks we list are points that at least two independent reviews agree on, and every one links to its sources. Blake's notes appear as "Our editor's take" and are labeled as one person's experience. Our method page has the details.
