Breville Barista Touch BES880
We may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. It doesn't change our picks. How we're paid
A Barista Pro with a touchscreen and automatic milk frothing. The milk side is hands-off; the espresso side is not. You still dose and tamp yourself.
Who it's for
Good fit if
you drink a lot of milk drinks and want automatic frothing, but are happy to dose and tamp by hand.
Skip it if
you expect a push-button machine, or you want the touchscreen to help you dial in. Look at the Barista Touch Impress or Oracle Jet for that.

What reviewers agree on
Each point is made by at least two of the independent reviews linked after it. We don't own or test the products we cover; see how we choose.
- It is ready in about 3 seconds. (Expert Reviews, Kaffeemacher, Coffee Kev)
- The espresso side is still manual: you set the grind, dose and tamp yourself. (Expert Reviews, Kaffeemacher, Coffee Kev)
- Automatic milk frothing works well, and you can steam by hand if you prefer. (Expert Reviews, Kaffeemacher, Coffee Kev)
- The touchscreen controls drink settings, while grind size stays on a dial on the side. (Expert Reviews, Kaffeemacher)
- You can save your own drink recipes. (Expert Reviews, Coffee Kev)
Worth knowing
- Reviewers disagree sharply on the espresso. One found it consistently very good and less intimidating than the Barista Express (Expert Reviews); another found the brew temperature too high and the shots harsh, and didn't consider it beginner-friendly. (Kaffeemacher)
- Shots are timed rather than measured by volume, so a scale helps. (Kaffeemacher, Coffee Kev)
- Two of the three reviews tested the European version, sold as the Sage Barista Touch, and the Expert Reviews test dates from 2019.
Raised by one reviewer: the touchscreen is less responsive than a phone and some on-screen extraction tips are misleading (Kaffeemacher); it can look more automated than it is, and full list price is hard to justify when it is often on sale (Coffee Kev).
How it compares
- vs. Barista Pro ($849.95): the same heating and grind settings with an LCD and a manual steam wand.
- vs. Barista Touch Impress ($1,499.95): adds assisted tamping, dose feedback, shot guidance and milk presets for plant milks.
- vs. Ninja Luxe Café Premier ($599.99): guided dosing with a built-in scale and automatic milk, plus drip coffee, for much less.
